Good news, bad news.

March 31, 2009

So I have a bunch of good news/bad news stuff today.

Good news, Lin was released from the hospital yesterday.  She seems to be doing good overall but she didn’t want to stay at home.  She ended up spending the night on mom’s couch and is sore today.

Bad news, Granny is in the hospital.  She apparently called the ambulance at 4 am because she was doing so bad.  She had been feeling like Lin was feeling for about the same amount of time.  Now she has been in the ER for 4 hours and they don’t know what is going on with her.  It would be weird if she needs to have her gallbladder removed too….

Good news, because Lin is sore and recovering from her surgery I don’t have to take her to all her appts today.

Bad news, that means I have to reschedule all of them and that is a bitch.  Why is it that a 5 minute appt has to be scheduled 2 months in advance?  I think that Dr needs to check his workload….

Good news, I have my appt to fix my tooth, or at least get it looked at, on Thursday.

Bad news, I have my appt to fix my tooth, or at least get it looked at, on Thursday.  (I hate the dentist and the fact that I have had to wait months to get this appt and I have almost $2000 put away to get ONE tooth fixed makes it worse.)

Today…

March 27, 2009

Today Lin is getting surgery to remove her gallbladder.  It’s her first surgery ever and her first time being put under.  She is freaked out, I really hope that they will have some tranquilizers to give her before and after just in case she actually goes nuts.  It’s possible.  You never know with her.  When she was 6 years old (imagine a 50 pound little blond girl with big blue eyes and a Little Mermaid dress on) she had to have a throat swab because the Dr wouldn’t give her antibiotics until he had checked her for strep.  Well, the first one wasn’t good so they had to do another swab and she freaked and it took 6 grown men to pin her down so they could do the swab.  It wasn’t strep.  Since then she hasn’t trusted Drs.

The last 2 nights she has been in the hospital by herself but mom and I have been with her during the day.  So she isn’t totally alone.  And we have explained how everything is with her to her Drs and nurses so they will understand what needs to be done.  Like if the surgeon comes in and wants to talk to her about the surgery, me or mom need to be there.  If she is in pain she won’t say anything to them, they need to ask her about her pain.  Stuff like that.  I’m just hoping everything will go good.

In other things, yay!  This is my 100th post.  Wow, that’s kinda cool!

Derek has been amazingly good the last couple days, 2 days of 9 hours each at the hospital and he has only cried twice.  Last night Bishop and I went to dinner after I got back from the hospital and he was a fuss butt at the restaurant but I expected as much, he only has so much patience and 99% of it was used at the hospital.

So I have a question for everyone reading this: if you have had your gallbladder removed, or know someone who did, how long did it take you to get back to your normal daily life and what diet changes did you have to do?

Yesterday

March 19, 2009

Yesterday Derek had his 4 month shots.  He also got weighed and measured.  He is coming in at 15 pounds, 13 ounces and 25.5 inches long.  That’s 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 6 inches gained in 4 months 1 week.  I’m amazed.  He did pretty good with the shots, he didn’t scream but he did cry pretty hard after the first one (he had 3).

Lin is sick again, her flu came back.  So she isn’t riding today but she is coming with us to watch me ride, or at least that’s the plan.  It depends on how she is feeling.  Sunday night she passed out in the bathroom and was puking for hours.  Today her stomach is hurting her but only after she eats something but she is extra hungry so it’s hurting all the time since she has eaten 4 times since she woke up 4 hours ago.

We, well, I totally blanked yesterday with dinner so we are having our St. Patrick’s Day dinner tonight instead.  After riding I’m going to have to swing by the store and get some cabbage and desert for later.  Mom has a Dr appt after my lesson but I’m going to invite her for dinner tonight anyway, she is kinda sick too, dizzy all the time, and it’s no fun cooking for yourself when you’re sick so she can eat with us.  Plus, the corned beef I bought was huge so there is more than enough.

Today

March 12, 2009

Today I’m supposed to go have my riding lesson.  It’s been a couple weeks so I know I’ll be really sore and achy for the next couple days.

Today Derek is super fussy.  Mom gets to watch him while I’m riding, hopefully he won’t be screaming the whole time like he has been doing this morning.

Today I paid bills and pretty much all our money is gone.  I’m sad.  I think I need to set up a savings account to start saving money so we don’t spend it as fast.

Today I realized that I have no “real life” friends.  My entire social network is online.  And even then I think I’m growing apart from them.  Either that or everyone is tired of me and wants me to go away.

Today Lin has been argumentative all day.  First it was about the serving size of her grits (she wants it in a box, not the individual packages, so she can have 2-3 servings at a time, not just one) then it was about the sucker she was eating (she had an orange dum-dum and got mad when it wasn’t peach like she thought and got mad that the paper stick on it came apart) then it was about something stupid on TV.

Today Bishop was all tired and upset that Derek kicked him in the back all night long and then when Derek woke up this morning, at 5 am I might add since I was up with him, and wanted to play he was squealing all morning long.  Sorry dear, that’s what you get for going to bed at 1 am when I was in bed at 10.  I go to bed early and got a couple hours more sleep because I know he does that.

Today I need a nap but it looks like it’s not going to happen.  Derek is napping now but if I try to lay down he will wake up.  His other nap time is during my riding lesson.  Too bad Mommy, you are going to have to function with the little bit of sleep you got last night.

Today I tried to give Derek some peach puree and he made a face like I was trying to poison him.  It was quite funny but what am I supposed to do with the mostly full container of peach baby food?

Today I’ve decided that I need to get a life.  Or maybe a vacation.  I guess  just need to get away for more than an hour at a time.

Big boy!

March 11, 2009

So today Derek is 4 months old.  And wow, what a 4 months it has been.  He actually hit a milestone last night, he rolled from his back to his belly, and then promptly rolled back to his back.  It was pretty cute.  And yesterday I realized that 3 weeks ago he was still wearing newborn clothes and now the 6-9 months clothes are fitting him rather well.  Wow, talk about growth spurt!

So here is a pic of the little guy for all of you to ohh and aww over.

Derek, 4 months

Daddy’s little race fan already!
