Laughing!!!

April 25, 2009

Just so you all can enjoy Derek laughing as much as I do….

Well, not much is going on around here, same old same old… though I’m worried at how things will continue going.  I’m sure everyone in the world has heard of California’s budget problems, well, now they are directly affecting our little family.  Lindsey gets SSI since she is disabled and they have cut her payments by about $60 a month.  Not much over all but from what I hear that is just the start, there are more cuts to come.  And her therapist can no longer live on what the state is paying her to see Lindsey so we have the option of going to a different therapist or making a co-payment every appointment.  We’ll make the co-payment because after seeing her therapist for the last 14 years not seeing her could make Lin go nuts.  Not a good possibility.

And even my job is in jeopardy.  Basically the state saves about $6000 a month by paying me to keep her safe and making sure she gets all she needs (food, help with showering, medications on time and so forth) but there are talks about cutting that program all together or at least dumping the care providers who care for disabled adults (the program is mainly for elderly people, the disabled people are a small percentage of the client base).  Even if they don’t do that they may lower the amount of hours they will pay me to help her.  Right now I’m one of the highest paid in the state just speaking of total hours a month even though I’m only getting minimum wage.  Honestly I’m a little freaked out by the possibility of no longer having a job because the state is bankrupt.  Makes me want to move…. :(

Our trip.

April 17, 2009

So our trip went ok, Derek was very good in the car on the way down.  We went to the reunion on Sunday, spent some time meeting his relatives that he never met (not a close-knit family), then went back to his mom’s house.

Monday Bishop, Derek and I went to meet Mandy, a friend that I met online at www.conception-obsession.com and we had lunch.  Meeting her was great, it was so cool to see her little boy.  After we left I realised that I should have had Bishop take some pics.  ‘Doh!

Tuesday we came home and Derek had a hard time in the car.  The trip down took 8 hours, about normal and we only stopped 6 times total.  The trip back took almost 11 hours and it was so windy that driving was almost impossible.  I was absolutely exhausted and I’m still not recovered from all that driving.

Tuesday night mom got stung by a bee and I had to take her to the ER.  She had a very bad reaction to the sting, the fist time anything like that happened.  Not a good thing for a bee keeper….. :(

Yesterday was a hurried day of running errands and riding lesson.  I’m super tired from that, I wish I could just stay in bed all day but I’ve got a dental appt in an hour and a half.

Maybe tomorrow I can sleep some…..

1 am…

April 4, 2009

So here it is, 1 am, or 1:28 am to be precise, and I’m awake. So is Derek, which is why I’m awake. He finally fell asleep at 9:30 and slept until Bishop came to bed at 12. By then I had been asleep a whopping 30 minutes. Bishop wasn’t quiet and it woke Derek up and he suddenly wanted to play. Which means that I’m on the computer downstairs and Derek is on the floor playing with his toys. Lovely.

So everything in the last week and a half has been hell or gone wrong.

Lindsey isn’t doing good, she says she is in so much pain that she feels like she is going to throw up all the time but as far as I can see she is fine for most of the day, she only starts acting like she is in pain in the afternoon and she doesn’t say anything about it until it’s dinner and then she is hurting too much to eat anything or do much else other than sit by the toilet. I’m debating on whether to take her back to the hospital or not, or try to wait it out and take her to see her Dr. I just don’t know.

Granny was in the hospital for a couple days, they were saying her kidneys had stopped working but they pumped massive amounts of fluids into her and they started working again so they sent her home. The problem is that she doesn’t seem to be able to care for herself and it’s just one step closer to her moving into a nursing home. Of course she is pissed at even the possibility so who knows.

The dentist thing went ok I guess, he said it wouldn’t take much to do the root canal and I got the first appt they had which is at the end of the month. It really sickens me that I’m paying $1500 for a fucking root canal and that doesn’t include the crown. I’ll have to get that separately.

Easter weekend Bishop, Derek and I are going to his mom’s house so we can go to the first family reunion in Bishop’s lifetime. That’s a 400 mile trip. I’m so not looking forward to that. But I am trying to get Derek to drink from a sippy cup so I can put some pumped milk in it and maybe we won’t have to stop so often for him to nurse. It’s times like this that I really wish that he would take a bottle but no, he is a boob man all the way.

Ok, I’m off to play with the boob man and try to get him to sleep some…
