Lots of pics

June 30, 2009

So our trip went ok, it was very very hot (one day was 107…yuck), the family stuff had both it’s high points (seeing my aunt Barb and cousin Gina, chatting with them for hours) and it’s low points (my aunt Mary freaking out at the memorial) and the normal stuff (staying with MIL, chatting about nothing important for hours).   I did get to meet up with Mandy at a park near MIL’s house…it was a great time.  And Derek got to go swimming for the first time ever.  He is definitely a water baby.

So I ended up with a ton of pics of the swimming and the park visit so enjoy…

Tomorrow

June 24, 2009

Tomorrow we leave.  For the memorial.  A huge crowd of relatives, most whom I’ve never met, crowded in a church rec room in 100+ degree weather.  With cheap wal*mart food.  Not my idea of a good time but I guess it needs to be done.

But that is only one day of our 5 day trip.  2 of those days are going to be traveling.  One day I’m going to go for a picnic lunch with a friend at a local park.  (Lots of shade will be avaliable, I’m hoping it will be tolerable.)  So that means that I will have one day to do whatever.  Talk with MIL, hang around her wonderfully air conditioned house, maybe jump in the pool.  We’ll see I guess.

Well…

June 19, 2009

My knee is feeling better but my foot is still killing me.  It normally takes a few days for a bruise to show up so I’m still waiting to see what my foot will look like after yesterday….

I was going to type a longer post but Derek keeps grabbing the key board so I’ve got to cut it short….lol!

Every day….

June 18, 2009

Every day I lay in bed right before I get up and think of what I need to do that day. It’s normal stuff around the house and appointments when they come up. Today my list went something like this:
dishes
clean the kitchen
put away some of the food from Granny’s house
clean the upstairs bathroom
do the Wii Fit for 45 minutes while Derek is napping
set out stuff for dinner
call about Lin’s surgery bill
pull weeds in the back yard
run to the bank
see what we are out of for grocery shopping
clean up the end table and the desk
cook the sweet potatoes and puree for Derek’s baby food (if anyone has any questions about making your own baby food please feel free to ask, I’m becoming a pro)

So this morning after Bishop went to work I was going into the kitchen to get Derek some more baby food (he ate a 1/2 cup of spiced peaches today, more than he has ever eaten!) and on the way into the kitchen I tripped over the baby gate smashing my knee into the carpet and almost breaking my foot. It’s still screaming even though I put ice on it and have taken some Aleve and their both swelling pretty bad. That means that most of the running around I had planned to do, even some of the cleaning, isn’t going to happen because I can barely walk. Taking Derek upstairs so he could nap was torture. But I did manage to clean up the kitchen and load the dishwasher and dinner is planned out (stir fry veggies and tri tip left over from dinner) so I did something but I think I’m going to have to rest my foot and knee for the rest of today. It sucks. See?

On a happier note here is a pic of Derek trying ice cream for the first time…too cute. Please disregard the terrible face I’m making, I didn’t realize I look like that when I’m feeding him….lol!

8 hours!

June 13, 2009

Yesterday we moved Derek’s crib into Lin’s room (5 hours of cleaning, organizing, sorting and 4 garbage bags full) and he slept in there last night….for 8 hours straight! I can’t believe it! From 9:45 to 5:45! And he is napping now so it’s even better. I got a good night’s sleep, Derek woke up once, cried for about a minute then went back to sleep. It was wonderful. Bishop just woke up (I can hear the alarm going off) so I’ll see how he slept but I think it was good. Such a relief!
